Abstract
Symbiotic dinitrogen fixation in legumes involves a complex genetic and physiological interaction between the host plant and the invading bacteria. Voorhees [23] in 1915 noted ". . . that different varieties of the same legume bear different and definite powers of resistance to association with symbiotic bacteria."
