Abstract
This paper gives an overall review of the recent status and perspectives on crop genetic enhancement (including genetic transformation technology) for resistance to bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) worldwide. Genetic resources and breeding progress towards resistant cultivars are discussed for different crops, including aubergine, groundnut, pepper (Capsicum), potato, tobacco and tomato. Constraints facing resistance breeders are identified
