Abstract
Information on heterosis is derived from data on 8 yield components in 3 male-sterile lines, (136A 1202A and 1258A), 11 diverse restorer lines and their 33 F1 hybrids grown during rabi 1981. Line 1258A produced a greater proportion of hybrids with significant heterosis for grain yield than did 36A and 1202A. Cross 1258A X PD3-1-11 gave the highest heterosis for grain yield (78.3%) and also showed significant heterosis for primary and secondary spikelets, and ear weight. The male parents PVR7, PVR25 and 1235 showed positive heterosis for ear and grain yield traits in combination with 36A and 1258A.
