Abstract
Green gram is an important crop and its cultivation is spreading in many countries due to its short duration, high protein content and as ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen. It is also used as green manure crop. Its usefulness in preventing soil erosion and intercropping is also recognised. Cobalt is essential for multiplication of rhizobium in host plant. Hence studies were undertaken to know the effects of cobalt on growth and yield of green gram. Field experiment was conducted during September, October and November 1988 using the cultivars ML 267 and LGG 410. The treatments given were seed treatment with cobalt nltrate @ 500 mg.kg-' seed, seed treatment with cobalt nitrate followed by one foliar spray @ 500 mg lltre-' of water at flowering, laid out in RBD (factorial) and replicated in times.
