Abstract
Two X-ray-induced mutants, Large Pod (TG1) and Virescent, of the variety Spanish Improved, were crossed and selection was made in the progenies for improved oil content. Seven F6 selections, designated TG7 to TG13, were included in field trials in 1969-1971. Compared with the control varieties, they matured 6-10 days later, suffered less from pod loss because of a 15-25-day seed dormancy, and gave 27-46% higher yield of pods. The selections also showed a 10-60% higher 100-kernel weight and a 2-4% higher oil content.
