Abstract

In greenhouse experiments, simultaneous inoculation of root regions of 1 to 2-years old peanut plants with toxigenic and atoxigenic strains of aspergillus resulted in lower levels of aflatoxin B, in the peanut kernels at maturity, Than those in plants inoculated with the toxigenlc strains alone. Of the seven atoxigenic strains tested, six strains Showed rcduction in aflatoxin production to varying extents. Pre-inculation of of atoxigenic (1 day earlier resulted In greater inhibition of aflatoxin production.
