Abstract
Several extractants were studied for their efficiency in removing aflatoxin from crude groundnut oil, e.g. 10% NaCl solution, 30% acetone in water, 0.08% NaOH, and 28% liquid NH3. The 10% NaCl solution proved best suited for the prupose; it was cheap, simple to use, removed about 60-90% of the toxin, caused fewest emulsion problems and gave max. oil recovery ( greater than 90%).
