Abstract
When rehydrated groundnut seeds inoculated with A. parasiticus were incubated under conditions favouring infection, the resistant genotypes GFA1, GFA2 and AR1 to AR4 (pedigrees given) were more resistant than the commercial cultivars Florunner and Sunbelt Runner. Pod yields of GFA1 and GFA2 approached those of the commercial cultivars. All the resistant genotypes are considered to have the potential to minimize aflatoxin contamination of seed immediately after harvest or in short term storage when environmental conditions are conducive to infection by A. parasiticus or A. flavus.
