Abstract
In studies in 1974-5 season with groundnut cv. (a) Jacana and (b) Natal Common (Natal/Spanish type), (c) Valencia RI and (d) Makulu Red (Virginia bunch type), differences were found between cv. in pod growth rate and possibly also in time taken to reach max. dry wt. Wt./seed never differed significantly between (a) and (d), but seeds of (d) were significantly heavier than those of (b) after 6 wk and those of (c) after 8 wk. Seeds of (a) were significantly heavier than those of (b) after 7 wk but never differed significantly in wt. from those of (c). Seed growth rate and duration was highest in (d) and lowest in (b)
