Abstract
An X-ray Induced dwarf mutant of goundnut had asynaptic chromosomes with very low frequency of bivalents at diakinesis. Other melotic abnormalities Iike, Irregular distribution of chromosomes at anaphases, bridge formation, multipalarity and abnormal tetrad, etc. were also observed. Consequently there were more abnormal pollen grains and sterility resulting In lack of pod setting. Dwarf plants had small Ieaflets and reduced length of petioles us well as calyx tubes. The mutant segregated as a simple recessive and the associated characters were, therefore, considered to be to plelotropic effect
