Abstract

A luteovirus was detected in rosette diseased groundnut plants from Nigeria by ELISA with an antiserum against beet western yellows virus. In ISEM luetovirus particles were trapped by antisera against BWYV, yellow dwarf, pea leafroll and potato leafroll viruses. After mechanical transmission from groundnut to groundnut typical rosette symptoms occurred but ELISA and ISEM gave negative results. These data agree with the suggestion that groundnut rosette virus, the virions of which are as yet unidentified, has a latent luteovirus assistor (GRAV)
