Abstract
Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) has one of the widest distributions among agricultural pests. It is highly polyphagous and mobile (including migration) and has a high fecundity. However, H. armigera is specialized in the sense that it attacks the protein rich plant parts, especially buds, flowers and hits. High levels of resistance to insecticides in H armigera populations are reported every year in India. This has led to increased interest in other control measures.
