Abstract
The symptomatology, causative agent, transmission, host range and management of 12 virus diseases of groundnut (bud necrosis or bud blight disease, rosette disease, groundnut (peanut) mottle disease, groundnut (peanut) stunt disease, groundnut mosaic disease, bunchy top complex, chlorotic spot disease, groundnut (peanut) green mosaic disease, peanut stripe disease, cowpea mild mottle virus disease, peanut chlorotic streak disease and groundnut bunchy plant disease) are summarized. It is suggested that in many cases a lack of precise identification of the causal viruses may have resulted in the same, or similar, diseases being given different names
