Abstract

The size of groundnut kernels is important in determining their market value, and Groundnut Accepentance Standards(1969)include of a size based on the retention of kernels on slotted screen. The Standards of four commonly grown varieties are shown in Table 1. Kernel size can also be measured by the numbers of kernels in given weight. In the trade the "ounce count", Which is the number of kernels in the ounce is often used. In this paper a method of predicting the retention of kernels on grading measurements of the ounce count is discussed.
