Abstract
The range of variation as well as analysis of variation for different characters indicated wide difference in three independent populations of groundnut. The genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation (PCV and GCV) were higher for pod yield in interspecific, intra specific hybrid derivatives and its parents. The 100-seed weight , pod yield, number of pods and shelling percentage showed high heritability combined with high genetic advance (GAm) as percent of mean indicating the presence of additive genetic variance for these characters and possibility of improvement in these economic characters of direct relevance to groundnut cultivation.
