Abstract

6 Spanish-type groundnut entries grown in Oklahoma and Georgia in 1968 showed significant effects (Georgia v. Oklahoma) in aspartic acid, proline, glycine, valine, isoleucine, peptide, ammonia and histidine. Significant differences for irrigated v. rain-fed crops in the 2 States were shown for aspartic acid, threonine, proline, glutamic acid, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, peptide, ammonia and histidine. Significant varietal differences for glutamic acid, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, ammonia, histidine, arginine, tryptophan and total amino acids were observed. None of the treatments gave significant effects on serine, alanine, methionine and lysine. Significant differences between States and between irrigated and rain-fed treatments were observed for the Kjeldahl-N content in the whole groundnut
