Abstract
The growth of plants under natural conditions is the result of genotypic expression in a given, changing environment. Studies on the effects of the environment on crop plants are justified because, of the extant to which agricultural productivity is limited by environmental stress. Water is especially important as a limiting factor in many arid and semi-arid areas.
