Abstract
Increased agricultural production is important because of an expanding world population and the accompanying possibility of malnutrition. From the analysis of agricultural research data, a wide gap has been indicated between the potential crop yields and the actual levels of production obtained. Only 2.5% of the sun’s radiation is converted into chemical energy by plants, whereas the potential exists to convert about 5 to 6% (98).
