Abstract
Forage Type sorghums, Sorghum vulgare Pers., and Sudangrass, S. vulgare var. sudanense(Hitch) are used for silage, green feeding and grazing. They are ideal warm-season emergence forage crops, because they grow rapidly at high temperatures and tolerate droughty conditions. In recent years forage sorghum hybrids and sorghum X sudan grass hybrids have become increasingly available. They are specially useful in the Semi-Arid areas where there is not enough moistures for corn. The sorghum X sudangrass hybrids, in particular, are replacing sudangrass in part, as a supplemental feed crop during the warm seasons.
