Abstract
The parental lines used in the mutagen treatments had the following characteristicst (i) photoperiod insensitivity. (ii) 3-dwarf, (iii) broad agronomic adaptibility, (iv) colorless pericarp, and (v) translucent erdosperm. Selfed seed was treated with 0.1% diethyl sulfate (DES) for 3 hours to induce opaque erdosperm mutants a t rate of 75 g seeds/ 1000 ml water.
