Abstract

Leonian (12) first described Phytophthora capsici Leonian and regarded it distinct from P. parasitica on the basis of pathogenicity to stems and fruits of mature pepper plants (Capsicum annuum L.), and the absence of chlamydosporers in culture. Later, Sarejanni(17) proposed that isolates exisbiting the morphology attributed to P. capsici and distinct from P. parasittica in the ability to pepper should be considered a variety of P. parasitica ....
