Abstract

10 cv. of groundnut were screened for relative drought tolerance based on free proline accumulation in the leaves, relative water content and 14CO2 fixation under uniform stress conditions. Of all the cv., C-55-47 accumulated most proline and fixed most 14CO2 under stress. There was no relationship between reduction in relative water content under stress and free proline accumulation between cv. It is concluded that C-55-437 is relatively more drought tolerant than the other cv. tested
