pp. 607-608.
Abstract
Extracts of 26 plants collected in India were evaluated for their antifeedant activity against 3rd-instar larvae of the arctiid Spilosoma obliqua in laboratory studies. Discs of castor [Ricinus communis] were dipped in solutions of each acetone extract for 2 s and air-dried. Extracts of Lindenbergia grandiflora showed the highest antifeedant activity (82.75%), followed by Passiflora mollissima (71.84%), while extracts of Schima khasiana and Ehretia canarensis showed moderate activity (61.1 and 60.7%, respectively). Protection for the other extracts ranged from 0.08 to 50.88%
