Effect of Cedarwood Oil On Reproduction of Dysdercus Koenigii.

Abstract
The effects of the oil vapour of cedarwood distilled from Cedrus deodara on reproduction in the pyrrhocorid Dysdercus koenigii, a pest of cotton, was assessed in the laboratory. Newly emerged adults of both sexes were topically treated with 0.2% cedarwood oil at 5 µl and then mated with their acetone-treated counterparts. The application of cedarwood oil prolonged the incubation period and reduced percentage egg hatch and the survival of 1st-instar nymphs within 24 h of emergence compared with the untreated control. There was little effect on fecundity, but the eggs laid were abnormal. The effects were greater in combinations involving treated males than in those with treated females
