Abstract
In Bijapur, Karnataka, India, during the post rainy seasons of 2001-02 and 2002-03, twenty sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) parental lines along with a resistant (IS 2313) and a susceptible (DJ 6514) controls were evaluated for their resistance to shoot fly (Atherigona soccata) and aphid (Melanaphis sacchari). The lines 104A, 104B, RR 9817, RR 9818, RS 585 and RS 653 were found to be resistant to the shoot fly by recording 18.7, 17.0, 14.9, 16.9, 13.4 and 16.2% deadhearts, respectively. The parental lines AKR 150, C 43, R 354, RS 29 and Indore 12 were categorized as resistant to the aphid, which scored less than 2 grade.
