Abstract

Olfactometric bioassay studies were done for evaluating pheromonal activity in air release volatiles. Results indicated that hexane extract of air release volatiles of female Caryedon serratus had highly significant attraction for the male sex in comparison of methanol and dichloromethane extract. Gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry analysis of the hexane extract showed the presence of C-9 and C-10 as major compound.
