Abstract

In order to evaluate effect of soil fertilization and cutting on Sorghum halepense, a plot including Sorghum halepense surrounded of the University of Gonbad Kavoos was enclosed. In the present research, the number of 71 stands of aforementioned species were selected and marked, and then a treatment was conducted in completely randomized block designs in two separate experiments with tree and two replicates of fertilization and cutting respectively. The treatments involved four treatments of cutting, involving frequent cutting (once time for every week), moderate cutting (every two weeks other), low cutting (every three weeks other) and control one (cutting at the end of the experiment) and four nitrogen treatments in four levels (no fertilizer, 100 kg/ha, 200 kg/ha and 300 kg/ha). All of the species aboveground parts were cut in different treatments in a regular schedule in 7 cm above soil surface. Results showed that stress caused by cutting affected significantly yield components including shoots number (tillering), plant height and total dry matter among others. Hence this species was introduced as a cutting factors-susceptible species. Results from covariance analysis of fertilization effect implied that there was no significant difference on yields components so it might be concluded that increased nitrogen rate of soil is as a result of higher litter accumulation.
