Abstract
Thirty-two promising derivatives of Arachis hypogaea from nine crosses were included with three standard varieties in a preliminary yield trial; correlation coefficients were estimated for seven yield components. Selection based on three components, such as shelling percentage and numbers of mature and immature pods per plant, proved more effective than direct selection based on yield alone.
