Abstract

In a field trial in 1993-94 on a sandy loam soil at Kalyani, West Bengal, India, groundnuts cv. JL 24, ICGS 11 and ICGS 44 were given 0, 20 or 40 kg S/ha as gypsum or pyrites. Seed and oil yields increased with increasing S rate, with gypsum being more effective than pyrites. ICGS 44 gave the highest seed and oil yields, followed by JL 24, then ICGS 11.
