Abstract
Five isolates of the virus obtained from groundnut were examined. The isolates appeared to be distinct strains although a close relationship among all isolates was established on the basis of particle morphology, serological reactions, cross-protection tests and host-range studies. Strains M1 and M2 produced similar mild mottle symptoms on groundnut but were clearly differentiated by three criteria: (1) symptoms on pea; (2) incubation period in pea; and (3) size of local lesions on bean. Strains N, S and CLP caused distinctly different symptoms on groundnut.
